Cole Creek Neighborhood Association Forms
August 01, 2009

The new association took its name from neighboring Cole Creek, the site of a stormwater management demonstration project under way in the Benson-Ames Alliance. For more information, visit colecreek.org.
There’s a new neighborhood association in the Benson-Ames Alliance.
The Cole Creek Neighborhood Association held its first official meeting Aug. 10 to adopt bylaws and chart a course for its future.
“Neighborhoods are the building blocks for great communities,” said Ron Abdouch, executive director of the Neighborhood Center. “Each individual neighborhood has the opportunity and the responsibility to help make their area of the city a great place to live, work and raise our families. Working together, there is little that cannot be accomplished.”
The Cole Creek Neighborhood Association is made up of roughly 1,200 homes in northwest Omaha near the headwaters of Cole Creek. It is bound by Sorensen Parkway on the north, Camden Avenue on the south, 60th Street on the east and 72nd Street on the west. The group has established four distinct areas within the association:
Area 1
66th to 72nd and Hartman to Sorensen
Area 2
60th to 66th and Hartman to Camden
Area 3
66th to 72nd and Hartman to Ogden
Area 4
60th to 66th and Hartman to Sorensen
The association is in the process of completing membership on its inaugural board of directors. The next meeting of the board is set for Monday, Sept. 14, at 6:30pm at Hartman Elementary School.
“It’s truly gratifying to see neighbors take an active role in improving life in their part of the city,” said Troy Arthur, vice chair of the Benson-Ames Alliance Steering Council. “We welcome the Cole Creek Neighborhood Association to the alliance and look forward to working with this group on mutually beneficial projects.”
