What grade would you give the Urban Design Element?
Omaha by Design’s 2008 annual report gives readers the opportunity to do just that. The report is a progress update on the implementation of the goals and recommendations outlined in the Urban Design Element (UDE), created through a public-private partnership and adopted as part of Omaha’s master plan in 2004.
The report lays out the UDE’s 21 goals and 71 urban design recommendations in three categories – Green Omaha, Civic Omaha and Neighborhood Omaha. The status of each recommendation is logged in one of four categories – Complete, Ongoing, In Progress and No Action. Activity is occurring in all 21 goal areas, said Connie Spellman, director of Omaha by Design.
