ford birthsite place game june 29
June 09, 2010
The Ford Birthsite Neighborhood Association is partnering with Omaha by Design to host a Place Game “junior” workshop Tuesday, June 29. The event will be held from 7:00 to 8:30pm at 1126 S. 30th Street. Anyone from the neighborhood can attend and participate.
The Place Game, a free service of Omaha by Design, is a fun, easy and organized way of brainstorming potential improvements to public spaces by listening to the people who use them. It was created by the Project for Public Spaces (PPS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people create and sustain public spaces that build stronger communities. Place Game “junior” workshops focus on a single site.
The Ford Birthsite Neighborhood Association is bound by the south side of Pacific Street on the north, east to include 29th Street, south to Ed Creighton Boulevard and west including the east side of 33rd Street. Comprised of a diverse group of older homes, local businesses and apartment buildings that date back to the late 1800s, the association strives to promote the safety and stability of its corner of Omaha.
In 2010, all groups that complete a Place Game workshop and apply for grant funding will receive a free tree from Omaha by Design as well as assistance with site selection and planting.
Omaha by Design conducts Place Game workshops free of charge from March through October. For more information, call 402.554.4010 or email info@omahabydesign.org.
