proposals sought for oppd refrigerator art project
March 28, 2011
OMAHA – If you’re an artist who thinks green and likes to use unconventional materials in the execution of your work, this project is for you.
The Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) is seeking proposals for green-themed temporary art installations using refrigerators as the basis for the artwork. The artwork will be displayed at various locations in OPPD’s service area, tentatively starting in the Old Market or Qwest Center areas. The objective is to increase awareness of energy efficiency and recycling.
The proposals will be evaluated by a panel consisting of members of the Omaha Public Art Commission and OPPD. Detailed information is available at http://www.publicartomaha.org/pages/get_involved/upcoming-events.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 15. The artwork must be finished and ready for installation by June 24, 2011.
