June 20, 2011
David Levy, a partner at Baird Holm, has been named chair of the Omaha by Design Advisory Committee. He begins his new duties Aug. 1.
Omaha by Design is a civic planning organization focused on the development, implementation and monitoring of urban design and environmental public policy in the metro. Its advisory committee is comprised of the city’s public, private and philanthropic leaders representing a variety of professions, including developers, engineers, architects, planners and landscape architects, along with the heads of the city’s parks, planning and public works departments, and a representative of the mayor’s office.
Levy is chair of Baird Holm’s real estate section. He represents clients in zoning, land use, energy, environmental and general real estate matters in transactional, administrative, legislative and judicial proceedings. Prior to joining the firm, he practiced land use and environmental law with a firm in San Francisco. Before beginning his legal career, Levy worked for seven years as a city planner for the City and County of San Francisco. He is a native of Lincoln, Neb.
“I am honored and excited to chair the Omaha by Design Advisory Committee,” Levy said. “Omaha and Omaha by Design have made great strides over the past 10 years. A city is a living thing, always changing and presenting new opportunities and new challenges. As it enters its second 10 years, Omaha by Design is well positioned to help Omaha capitalize on these opportunities and respond to these challenges.”
Levy succeeds Rex Fisher, senior vice president and director of corporate communications at HDR, who served as chair of the Omaha by Design Advisory Committee from 2004 until the spring of 2011. Del Weber, chancellor emeritus at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a member of the Omaha by Design Advisory Committee, is currently serving as interim chair.
