mayoral candidate forums set on different topics

February 13, 2013

Omahans will have two opportunities to hear from the city’s mayoral candidates at a pair of upcoming forums focused on specific issues.

Land use and development focus

Omaha by Design, the Greater Omaha Young Professionals and the Eastern Nebraska Development Council will host a mayoral candidate forum on land use and development issues Tuesday, March 26. The event will run from 6:30 to 8:00pm at the Omaha Community Playhouse, 6915 Cass St. The doors will open at 6:00pm.

The forum will be moderated by David Levy, a partner at Baird Holm and chair of the Omaha by Design Advisory Committee. The candidates will be given the opportunity to make opening comments. They will then be asked a series of questions prepared by the forum partners, followed by questions from those in attendance.

Neighborhood focus

The Benson-Ames Alliance will host a mayoral forum focused on neighborhood issues Thursday, March 28. The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:00pm at Goodwill Industries, 4805 N. 72nd Street.

Neighborhood groups from across the city are encouraged to attend and bring their questions, said Ann Hosford, a member of the Metcalfe-Harrison Neighborhood Association and the Benson-Ames Alliance Executive Committee.
