Public Buildings need an extra measure of security these days, but it needn’t be ugly. Omaha By Design took on the task of making Omaha’s Court House and the Harney Plaza of the Civic Center, not only more inviting and beautiful but safe as well.
Thanks to funding from the Parker Family Foundation and the cooperation of several civic groups, Omaha By Design was able to install a series of planters that have transformed the look and feel of this vital part of downtown’s landscape. This summer the new additions are in full bloom.

Not only do the planters beautify the sidewalk and enhance security they are designed to flourish with minimum maintenance. All plants are native to the area, so they are drought resistant and can withstand extreme temperatures.
Here are some before and after pictures that illustrate how things have changed in just two short years.
