The Research
Faculty, staff and graduate students in the Urban Studies Program and the Center for Public Affairs Research at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) provided research support for the Benson-Ames Alliance Plan, including an extensive household survey research report, a housing analysis through the Neighborhood Scan program, an inventory and survey of area businesses, and a demographic and economic analysis. The B-AA has identified downtown Benson as its first priority for revitalization. August 2008 marked the launch of the Maple Street Corridor Project. The B-AA commissioned Dan Gardner, principal associate with Houseal Lavigne Associates in Naperville, Ill., to conduct a housing and retail market analysis of downtown Benson in conjunction with the project.
