11th Street & Jackson Area - West
Side
The team liked the small scale and friendly, clean nature
of the north side of Jackson west of the intersection. The
architectural details of the stained glass, old dock area
and stone work were also appreciated
However, the area was also seen as drab, lacking color, awnings
and appropriate signage. There is little or no public seating,
historical lighting or other pedestrian friendly elements.
Short Term
-
Add planters.
-
Signs including Old Market information kiosk.
Long Term
-
Use the large alley between Jackson and Jones for events
and art shows.
-
Install lanterns.
-
Put in large scale Public Art, like a mural on Southeast
of Passport building.
-
Bump out curb to make more pedestrian friendly.
