The Place Game teams recommendations
and suggestions included:

• Enhance Connections along 11th Street to link the Old Market, the Gene Leahy Mall and the planned Holland Performing Arts Center using consistent landscaping, paving, signage, architecture and uses.
  
  
• Explore options to soften or eliminate the "concrete jungle" impression created by the abundance of parking lots and garages.
  
  
• Increase the Pedestrian Friendly nature of the district by employing traffic calming techniques like one-way and cobblestone streets, traffic signals, stripping and planters similar to those at 11th and Howard.
  
  
• Encourage Street Activities such as public art displays, street performances, food vendors, information kiosks, pocket parks and public seating all along 11th.
  
  
• Preserve and Protect Identifying Features like the ambiance of the Old Market continuing lighting, planters, architecture and landscaping throughout the area maintaining historic themes in the manner of the 10th Street Bridge renovation.
  
  
• Develop Underutilized Areas for uses consistent with the district character like outdoor entertainment such as concerts, movies and public markets.
