Birthday Party

The City of Omaha gave itself a party to celebrate its 150th birthday Friday, July 16th through Sunday, July 18th. All the entertainment and activities were free of charge.  The celebration brought people out to party in new and old public places all over the city.

Omaha’s own 311 rocks Memorial Park on Friday evening.

Picnic goers listen to tunes from the days when Omaha was born at the Family Reunion on Saturday hosted by the Douglas County Historical Society on the Fort Omaha Campus of Metro Community College.

Bruce Lauritzen is given the Douglas County Historical Society’s Harrison Johnson Award, a statuette of General Crook.

Native Drummers keep the beat for the dance.

MAT’s Retro Bus picks up Family Festival visitors at the Rose for stops throughout downtown on Sunday.

Balloons decorate the entrance to the Qwest Center.

Thousands crowd the Qwest center for a piece of the giant Birthday Cake.
