What the Place Game Team Liked Best

Place Game participants liked the architectural variety including the scale of buildings and their quirkiness along with the unique park-like corners, and Art Deco look.

The team disliked the boarded up businesses in need of repair and prominent used car lot.  They felt the area was not friendly or inviting and overrun by pigeons in the low tree canopy. They observed there are too many stop lights, traffic speed is too high, lighting is nondescript and there is no identifying signage.

Short Term

• Put artwork into empty building windows.
• Encourage high school art displays.
• Add Murals to enhance blank walls.
• Paint, clean and maintain the streetscape.

Long Term

• Add awnings along the street.
• Attract a theatre to draw people to the area.
• Install historical lighting.
• Encourage restoration and
• Create nodes of activity at intersections along Maple.
• Put in diagonal parking and back area parking.
• Introduce a common theme or identifier of the district.
• Create more public gathering places.
