Place Game Garners Thousands in Improvements

Lively Omaha’s Place Games can make neighborhood dreams come true.  On January 25, 2003 the Columbus Park Neighborhood Association held a Place Game with the help of Lively Omaha that resulted in a William and Ruth Scott Foundation grant totaling $55,377 in addition to the City’s allocation for renovating the Park under Mayor Fahey’s Neighborhood Park Rehab Program.

About 12 parks per year are being rehabilitated under the program.  You can find out more about the Park Rehab program at http://www.ci.omaha.ne.us/parks/.

Lively Omaha’s Place Game helped the Columbus Park Neighborhood Association come up with what the park’s users and neighbor’s most wanted for the Park.

The January 2003 Workshop not only gathered participant's input, but helped prioritize the ideas for meeting with the Parks Department.

The Place Game was also necessary to receive the additional funds from the Scott foundation.

Upgrading playground equipment to be safer and more fun was a top vote getter at the workshop as were upgrades to the Pavilion and picnic facilities in the Park.
