What the Place Game Team Liked Best

Workshop participants appreciated the entrance green space, landscaping, planter maintenance, openness and interesting topography with berms and hillocks. Longtime residents recalled that the park had Japanese inspiration in its design.

They felt the park had potential, but wanted to preserve its serene, lush feel, curved walks and abundant mature trees.

What Could Be Improved

The team felt the area lacked identity, was unkempt with somewhat dated landscaping.

Inadequate lighting and currently unused lights under trees, low visibility under trees and lack of sittable areas needed attention.

They observed that the median maintenance could be improved and expressed concern about underage drinking and mischief that takes place in the dark and secluded sections of the park.

    Short Term

    • Reuse the lights under trees
    • Trim trees, repair benches, paint light posts and perform general maintenance.
    • Clean the area and take hostas out of the fountain
    • Update and improve directional signage

    Long Term

    • Plant more flowers in common areas
    • Commission or make site available for public art
    • Add more seating, drinking fountain and a picnic area
    • Add lighting particularly in problem areas
    • Landscape Regency-owned areas
