Group 3 - ITC Building Area

What the Place Game Team Liked Best
The team thought the ITC building and surrounding area was well-identified, clean, simple and uncluttered. They also like the existing planters with flowers.

What Could Be Improved
They disliked the industrial feel, bad odors, uninviting and drab ambiance. They thought the area was dim and not well lit, lacking places to sit and that the building didn’t have enough windows. The parking lot was viewed as a sea of pavement that presented traffic and personal safety issues.

Proposed Quadrangle

Short Term

• Install fragrant plantings and hanging
  baskets off of light poles.
• Reroute main traffic away from entrances
  to buildings and put in traffic calming devices.
• Put in an information kiosk and improve
  directional signage to other campus facilities.
• Put in a safety phone.
• Add more seating.
• Install some public art.
• Encourage vendors serving food and coffee.
• Add a water feature.

Long Term

• Add a pavilion or gazebo that will
  provide a performance space.
• Put in adequate, appropriate and safe lighting.
• Install an interactive outdoor space
  for conversation games, etc.
• Put in a water feature or other focal point for the proposed quadrangle .
• Install public art.
• Utilize a variety of seating types some fixed
  and some movable.
• Add plantings and landscaping.
