What the Place Game Team Liked Best

The group liked the opportunity presented by the space for change, the diversity and easy access of the area.

What Could Be Improved

They felt the site was not pedestrian friendly, presented a single purpose, industrial appearance. They also found the smells objectionable and saw the problem as an environmental issue.

Short Term

• Make entrance to Mahoney a gathering
  place with landscaping, a mural, a water
  feature, better seating, and a designated
  smoking area.
• Install traffic calming devices.
• Improve Signage.
• Increase and improve lighting.
• Add bike racks.

Long Term

• Provide space for youth activities in the area
• Utilize the area as a neighborhood park
  and community center.
• Install a walking path.
• Put in shelter for winter weather and wind
• Provide a path to Stockyards to connect to
  residences and services.
• Connect campus east across the interstate
  to the business district.
• Improve the Mahoney building’s façade.
• Make the building more energy efficient.
